My bio of Brodda is now up on the SWG Archive and to be featured in the July newsletter. I would have preferred to wait with the SSP until the newsletter itself was up, but I think I might not have the time, later in the week.

I obviously chose Brodda to go with my earlier Aerin bio, but I think it makes some independent observations and points. I don't think Brodda is anyone's favourite character (although, in fandom, who knows?), but he still bears thinking about--a character who rises (part way) to the top in a messy situation in which traditional constraints have broken down.

My bios tend a little bit toward the long-winded, I guess, but so far they have all been based on the Tale of the Children of Hurin, which is represented in the published Silmarillion in a very condensed version, so I think that maybe my own style and the chosen subject matter are a good match in this.

I think I should also mention that the current SWG challenge is geared towards taking inspiration for a fic from a SWG bio. I've only written about Aerin, Brandir and now Brodda, but there are plenty of other bios by Dawn, Robinka, Russandol, Marta, Silver Trails, Scarlet, Darth Fingon, and above all, by Oshun, to choose from--plenty of inspiration there.

Further related news, which I don't think I've mentioned yet: I've revised my essay on Aerin and Eowyn a bit (it was posted to the LOTR community on LiveJournal for the August non-fiction challenge some time ago and some of you probably remember it) and the revised version will eventually appear on the SWG website at some point, but I don't know when yet.

Also, taking this opportunity to SSP my Aerin & Broddun sequence again, as it tends to draw less attention than some others of my writings:

the revised version will eventually appear on the SWG website at some point, but I don't know when yet.

I just need to get final approval from my comods on the new Reference guidelines, then we'll start working with submissions again. LiveJournal deciding to behave like a bunch of buttheads with their new ToS shifted my focus from References ... but it is still looming on my radar! Now just for the time to wrap it up.
