Another WIP that was a long time in the writing.
Because Angst with a capital A.
Also, I'm anxious about the raging Elwing debates--there's just been another round on Tumblr.
Anyway, it is here.

Will read as soon as I finish writing a few things! :D

...I'm not sure why we keep having Elwing debates. I mean, I don't like her, tbh, but I just don't read fic with her in it if I know I'm not in the mood to see other people's views of her and I don't try to convince other people of my views. I'll admit I get annoyed when somebody says everybody who doesn't like Elwing is anti-women, but whatever, it's not my problem that people overlook that I dislike Eärendil even more (and I mean, if I ever finish this pre-journey to Valinor story, we also get moral questions of Ingwë and Elu leaving their families to go...do you think I can spark a whole new debate in the fandom? :P I'll distract attention from your story, if somebody is bugging you about it).

Raging Elwing debates? I'm not sure whether to think I hang out in the wrong places, or be thankful I've missed them. (I think, on the whole, it's the latter, given that I've written Elwing a few times before and probably will again before too long...)

No worries about length. :)

Thanks for the summary! I had no idea there was such ongoing debate over the issue, though I have seen a few 'Elwing's sons resent her leaving/think she's a bad mother' fics. While I can see where any/all of the views you laid out could be defended, I can't say I much agree with any of them. (Except for possibly 'the Silmaril should have been handed back'. But that mistake is more Dior's than Elwing's. Once Dior refuses to give it up, it seems unlikely that Elwing would look past all the blood shed at the Second Kinslaying and choose to return it.)

It would make sense. Regardless of what she's heard or not heard about Beren and Luthien, Morgoth is more remote and hasn't directly acted against her or her people in recent memory. But the Fëanorions attacked within her own lifetime, both her parents died in that Kinslaying, and she has a Silmaril. In her place, I'd think the Fëanorions were the more dangerous threat too.

Also, I had to laugh - having managed to avoid it up until now, what should pop up in my Tumblr yesterday evening but Elwing debate. *sigh*
